The church was founded in 1985 when a group of people from the town who attended Biggin Hill Christian Fellowship started meeting together in Sevenoaks under the name The Town Church.
The new church particularly encouraged the use of the gifts of the Spirit and was one of the first ‘charismatic’ churches in Sevenoaks.
Joining with Kemsing Free Church the following year, which had a similar theological outlook, the church met in rented facilities until it purchased the current building in Mill Lane. At the beginning of 2012 the name of the church was changed to Hope Church.
Part of the New Ground (New Frontiers) family of churches, Hope has links with a wide range of other churches around the world.
